Amichien® bonding method

The method in which I am qualified, was pioneered by Jan Fennell, the internationally acclaimed Dog Listener. 
 
In 1989 Jan was inspired by Monty Roberts, the Horse Whisperer. After witnessing him work calmly with untamed horses by communicating with them using their own language, Jan decided to try and adapt his gentle method to the domestic dog.

To achieve this she researched wolf packs and African wild dogs, whilst also observing the behaviour of her own pack of domestic dogs. As a result Jan has created a holistic approach to canine behaviour called Amichien® bonding that is non-confrontational and gentle, yet powerful and extremely effective.

Through her extensive research, Jan learnt that wolves and dogs instinctively depend on being a member of a pack in order to survive. Each subordinate member knows its place and responsibilities within the pack, whilst the leaders are responsible for the smooth running of the pack and ultimately its survival.

Our domestic dogs possess these same instincts and perceive their owners as their pack. The unsociable behaviour many of our domestic dogs display today is as a result of them not trusting in their owner’s abilities to live up to the job of pack leader, which in their mind, jeopardises the survival of the entire pack – including themselves.
 
Amichien® bonding involves understanding the social values, instincts and interaction between canines, and mimicking the body language of pack leaders to communicate to our domestic dogs that they can relax and live a care-free life, which will cause them to give up their unsociable habits.
 
By acting as a calm, consistent and convincing leader throughout our everyday lives, dogs choose to behave appropriately of their own free will, without intimidation, force, or gadgets.

This builds a strong relationship based on loyalty and respect, with an intimate, lifelong understanding between owners and their dogs.
